Food Handling Regulations UPDATE:

Attention Establishments,
Please be advised that revisions have been made to the previous Food Handler Training requirements packet we mailed to you. The following information was given to Stickney Public Health District by the Illinois Department of Public Health:

The previous versions (1-3) of the FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) should be discarded, as there are several changes on the new version 4 of the FAQ:
1. A change to the food handler definition was made, which excludes volunteers from the training requirement.
2. The date that all food handlers working in restaurants must have training completed changed from July 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 since enforcement of the requirement does not begin until January 1, 2015.
3. The website to find American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited programs was changed and now only lists programs that are non-state specific for use in Illinois:
