Trustee Wanda Jensen Retires
All good things must come to an end and after 33 years, Trustee Wanda Jensen recently stepped down from her long-held position."It's been such a pleasure to serve Stickney Township that it's not easy to resign," remarked Wanda looking back on her experiences with the Board. "I felt it was time for new blood. It was time for me to move on."
Characterizing the Board and staff as "well trained and doing a wonderful job for the Township, she singled out Senator Viverito for a special thanks for "all he has done for the community."
In addition to serving as trustee, Wanda enjoyed a reputation as a perpetual volunteer, having served a variety of groups and causes over the years.
Her current plans include a visit with her grandchildren in California.
Thank you Wanda, for all you have done for Stickney Township..
Some Recent Changes In Your Township Administration
Louise Zelinski, Township collector for the past four years, has been appointed to fill the trustee position vacated by Wanda Jensen.
A resident of Centeral Stickney for more than 37 years, Louise and her husband Michael raised two daughters here. Both girls graduated from Sahs and Reavis High School. Lisa is now a teacher and Abby is an esthetician.
Active in the schools and community, Louise is a past president of the Charles J. Sahs PTA from 1992 to 94 and was active in Girl Scouts. She has been employed by the Central Stickney Sanitary District for the past 19 years.
Frank J. Pajak has joined the board as Township Collector. Serving as the Superintendent/Treasurer of the Central Stickney Sanitary District since 1993, Frank is an EPA certified Public Water Supply Operator and a member of the American Water Works Association. He resides in Burbank with his wife, Melanie, and is an avid fisherman. Both Louise and Frank look forward to continuing to serve the Township!
Seeking Flag Donations
Donations of American flags are needed to fly over all four Township facilities
and the Veterans Memorial in Burbank. They are flown to pay tribute
to your loved one. The only size flag we can fly on our poles is
8 ft. by 5 ft. (the type that is used for funerals). Please attach
a note indicating the name of the honoree (a brief history is welcome)
along with your own name and telephone number. You will be notified
when the flag is being flown and your loved one’s named will be posted.
Drop your flags off at any Township building but they will be flown closest to
the location of the donor (i.e., Burbank residents at the Veteran’s Memorial,
State Road or Senior Center locations). Flags are flown until in disrepair,
then properly disposed of by the Stickney American Legion Post 8159.
Your donations are deeply appreciated.
