GENERAL ASSISTANCE (424-9200) Provides assistance in meeting basic living expenses. Referrals to appropriate aid agencies are made by this service.
• 11 children received toys from a number of agencies.
• 176 children received help from Chicagoland Toys for Tots.
• 23 children received help from South Stickney Sanitary District employees.
• 10 children received help from an anonymous donation made by a Burbank family.
• 4 area schools (St. Laurence, Queen of Peace, Moraine Valley, Tobin) sponsored food drives and hat/scarf drives.
• 72 families and senior citizens received assistance from 4 local churches in the community (Faith Community Church, The Family of Bethel Bible Church, Immanuel Christian Reform Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church).
• 62 families were assisted by local organizations (Burbank Sertoma, Oak Lawn Elks, Womens Regular Democratic Organization, American Legion Stickney Post #687, Salvation Army).
• 10 families received $100 cash, donated by Midas Muffler.
• 2 families received $103 cash, donated by Stickney Township Administration.
• 6 employees donated above and beyond their monetary donations in the form of food, toys and clothing.
• 9 residents participated in the form of donations and secret shopping.
• 2 families each donated $1,000 in food, toys, gift cards and cash.
• 1 family donated over $1,000 used in “adopting” ten children and distributing cash to seniors.
